Why I started with a personal trainer and the results.

Being in sales for the past 20+ years I attended a lot of sales training classes. I remembered in one sales training that the instructor told the class that one of the things any good sales person should do is to higher a personal trainer. I thought to myself "what the hell is he talking about?" He stated that a personal trainer could focus you in the right direction. Point out what needs to be done. Win the results you are looking for. Making you feel better about yourself. He stated the positive energy you will develop is visible and the customer could feel it. Being physically fit that you were better able to deal with the stresses of sales.

I guess this stuck in the filter of my brain. So I started looking around. The new LA Fitness club was opening. Amerifit was down the street. Extreme Fitness was close. So I visited and all I got were high pressure sales pitches. This is not right I said to myself and I tend to go with my gut. I really had no idea of where to start. I knew this wasn't the right path. So I Googled personal trainers in Pittsburgh

That is when I found an add on Craigs List. His name was Jon-Michael Kerestes. Odd name. Interesting credentials. US Olympic Training center Judo team member and third degree black belt. NCAA collegiate wrestler, graduate of The US Air force Academy and promoted to Captain, Owner of Love Street Living Foods (Raw, Organic food company, 15 years nutritional experience.

I called and set up a meeting. Before we meet he asked that I be open and coachable.

At fist I was sceptical. He did this out of his home. No expensive equipment. He wasn't some muscle bound body builder. No fancy work out clothes. How good could he be? What do I have to loose? An hour of my time and some cash. How hard could this be?

First of all he was very professional. He asked very direct questions and listened to the answers. When we started I was shocked at how out of shape he showed me that I was. He gave very direct constructive instruction. No games here. He's not going to pamper you. He finds your weakness' and works on them. I could not believe it, but I didn't make it the full hour. I thought I was going to puke, and I almost did.

When I was done, he told me he would like me to do a food diary and email him everything I ate, and when, how much water, and what kinda of exercise. he would correct it and send it back the next day and that we would be talking about it more during the next session. I will do a separate post on the food diary.

He doesn't mess around he is serious about what he does and he is good at it. The weight started drooping off me. The first week I lost 10 pounds! In 12 weeks I lost 42 pounds! People were noticing. Asking what I was doing. I was embarrassed to say I hired a personal trainer. I even took a lot you jabs from friends, family, and coworkers. My wife even thought it was a joke at first. But when she saw the results. She started going herself and has lost 50 lbs. I am happy I stuck with it. If you want to contact him:
